Animal life in the White Mountains is limited to a few species. In summer there are numerous goats and even more sheep. You will see eagles, ravens, griffin and bearded vultures. The high valleys harbour many partridges and hares venture almost to the summits. The Cretan wild goat (also called kri-kri or agrimi) is rarely seen except in the cliffs of the large gorges that run from the center of the mountains to the sea (Eligas, Samaria, Klados and Tripiti).
